Piper is looking and acting so big these days. I can't believe how she's changing.
But I digress - yes! We did it! We went camping!!!
Yes, it was our friend Ben's backyard, but hey! All of us in the same tent for two nights?
That's a big thing!
And what a yard it is!
The tent beyond the curls...
We rolled in late afternoon Friday and set up. Met baby Auburn (she's 4 months old) caught up with Ben and Amanda and the older girls and got situated.
Moxie had a baby Auburn obsession. Well, we all did. Sweet thing.
Their house is in Gunnison, just on the edge of town. Rural feel, just minutes from City Market. So pretty much perfect.
First night was rough.
Well for me, Josh, and Moxie it was.
Rockstar camper Piper slept through it all.
But Moxie was freezing and the only alternative was to wedge between us.
Not something she was in to.
So while Josh got no sleep, I slept maybe an hour.
And Piper slept through all the screaming wedged my other side all bundled in her magenta sleeping bag dreaming of Sophia the First and happy as can be.
Good thing she's cute!
Night two we get more blankets and borrow a baby sleeping bag we then draped over Mox. It wasn't as cold that night and I slept blissfully until 4:45 when Moxie started screaming. We got her, hugged her, medicated her (that eye tooth is just cutting now) and put her back into bed. Piper started to stir, so I got her up and got her to pee and we lat there waiting for Moxie to settle.
She does.
And so do we.
At 6 Piper wakes up pumped and I convince her to just relax in her bag quietly. She falls back asleep and Mox wakes at 6:45. Piper sleeps through that and the juggle to get Mox and Josh out of the tent.
Piper and I sleep beautiful until nearly 8!
Rock. Star.
Piper was so, so happy. She not only needs to be active, she needs her feet in the dirt. There has been a great lack of that in our mosquito infested yard.
No amount of indoor bike riding will make up for muddy feet.
And she did it. She slept with us like it was no thang!
I had been so concerned about tent naps and sleeping before dark and I had nothing to fear.
The girls rocked this trip.
Beautifully.
Memories in the making...
