Last week Moxie and I were still working on our colds.
I had a meeting at work and Aoife wasn't available, so Josh took Moo.
She seemed totally fine. Happy, running around.
2pm I go to put her down for her nap and she coats her room in puke.
Like.
You hear stories, but ya-
I wasn't totally surprised. Josh had had a tummy bug over the weekend.

But poor Moxie was throwing up every 10 minutes.

She just sat in my lap and purged.

Laughing at her reflection in the silver bowl between sessions.

By 9:30 we got her to sleep.
Tuesday she was tired, but no puke.
Wed Aoife and I decided I'd keep Moxie another day, just in case.
Good thing.

Wed I put Moxie down for nap at 10am. She was not showing signs of a fever or anything weird. She woke at 11, chatted and fell back asleep. 12 she chatted and then fell back asleep.
Josh had slept for over 24 hours after he got sick, so I wasn't totally surprised. But it did feel odd. But I kept hearing her so I had no reason for concern.
Josh and I chatted about it. And decided I'd rouse her at 2, just felt like more than enough time in her bed- sick or not.
At 1:30 I felt this urge I couldn't ignore to check on her.
I opened the door and smelled the vomit. When I approached her bed I saw her eyes were open but it was obvious she wasn't okay. Swooping her up I saw she was pale blue and imediatly did a back thrust thinking maybe she was choking.
No response.
No movement.
At which point I knew I had to call 911 while I tried to get a response out of her. Her color was back, but she was still not responding to me.
Nothing.
Eyes open she started to blink.
Then turn her head.
And after 20 minutes she reaches for a book and hands it to me.
The dispatch for 911 told me kids bounce back fast. But I couldn't believe it. She wasn't herself. She wasn't fully in her body. But girl wanted a book.
Josh was the first to get there. Poor guy, responding to an ambulance call on his own daughter. Once Ivan got there and checked her out we all agreed she was not acting her usual Moxie self.

Hospital bound we go.
Thank goodness for Mimi and Papa who took Piper so we could be present for Moxie Moo.
More pokes than I wish to remember, Moxie was incredible. She'd cry during whatever test and then go right back to cuddling her Dad.
Because she was showing classic post-seizure behavior but hadn't had a fever the Docs wanted to run some tests. Over the 8 hours we were there she came back more and more.
And I got her flu.

Whoa nelly! In the days after I can now see how this flu could have wracked her little body. And how she could have slept so much after. I couldn't move for over 24 hours after my own 9 hours of purging.
I'm still quite edgy from the whole experience, understandably so.
But she is totally back to normal.
Tests came back within reason and we were told it is not uncommon and they don't do anything for a first episode.
May it be the only episode.
And they also said she could have choked too- they just don't know.
So I'll just be grateful.
Even if not knowing drives me crazy.
