Christmas Karma

This is the face of one sick kid.
Nose won't stop running, yummy sounding cough.
I don't know what this poor kid did to deserve her only two Christmases sick...
but it just ain't fair.

She's got that look of, "just make it stop or put me out of my misery." She's in that place of needing sleep, but can't because she can't breath and when she lays down it triggers the coughing.

So we've taken a lot of deep breaths and spent a bit of time in this position.

And time playing with all the crafts she did with Grammy last weekend.

Oh and the stickers her Grandma Les sent too.

Her Aunties are very patient women. Aunt Amy and Aunt Charlie made PJs for everyone,
and in a brilliant move (she's good for that)
Aunt Amy realized the scrap flannel would be perfect handkerchiefs.
So we've miraculously been able to keep her nose wiped and not red so far.

oh ya...and lots of TV
I've come to peace with it.

Because she only half watches anyway.

Aunt Sandi made Piper a kitchen platform.
I'm pleased to report she is in and out of it ALL DAY
and we had a successful dinner making experience with help and giggles,
through the snot and coughing of course

Don't worry - no one was over for dinner tonight - just sharing germs amongst ourselves.

A common Christmas scene this year. Matching PJs and snot rags included.

Assessing her "poons" with the fairy quilt Grandma Sally sent.

"Poons" that go with her new kitchen.
Thanks Aunt Amy for taking time off work to pick it up for us -
she's been making us boiled bananas and "pamato" sandwiches

As Aunt Charlie said, the kid woke up Christmas morning talking. And talking a lot.
"Well what is this Mom?" When someone says "Where's Piper?" she says "That's me!"

And although she's sick, she still finds the energy to pop up and dance and run around the house for a moment before pitching a fit and covering us in snot.

Dance Dance Everyone!

We can take some lessons from our tiny dictator this week.
Everyone must dance.

everyone.

But before that we had an art show to go to...

not sure why these came out so wonky

 But you get the point.

She did awesome. Quite impressed for a toddler at an art show.

Some cool things come in little packages this time of year

But its cold these days and we're going a little stir crazy.

But Grandma Sally sent one of my old monkeys to help ease the pain of being inside.

And then some of the Aunties came to help even more.

Aunt Amy brought all kinds of cool stuff. And luckily with a break in teething Miss Piper was in a good enough mood to actually snuggle a bit with her.

everyone. and I mean everyone must dance when Piper thinks its a good dance song.

Her favorite right now, other than Rudolph?

 Santa Baby.
oy vey.
And she knows some of the words...

Josh is gonna kill me for this, but its far enough away he may forgive me. Or you all could just not tell him. It'll take him awhile before he learns of this...
Ya. You're seeing that right. He's in her crib with her.

 The guitar obsession continues...

She was shy about it at first...
but the lure of cool footwear couldn't keep her away...

Finally she tried on Aunt Amy's boots. She had been eyeing them for awhile.

Who knew tu-tus were great head-ware?

Please take note that not only is she reading National Geographic.
But it is upside down.

The Aunties just took off, but they'll be back + one tomorrow. And I'm sure Piper can't wait. Amy and Charlie watched Piper while I went to the office this week and for a dance night. I came home from practice and Piper was shaking with excitement and running around.
Speaking of shaking with excitement...
I picked Piper up from Giselle's house this week to find her covered in paint.
G had gotten an easel and some paints from one of her Grandmothers.
Piper apparently was shaking she was so excited and we got to bring home her masterpiece, which is now hanging in the dining room.

Today Piper is with Grammy while I clean and wrap presents and prep for the days ahead.
