A little Person

Josh and I have always been conscious of the fact that Piper is a person. Early on we've tried to acknowledge her when we talk about her, tell her what we're doing - basically treat her with respect. She is after all another human being living with us. The reality of her truly being conscious is more apparent these days. She has new tricks and personality traits that come out every day. She's not just this cute little baby taking up space. She's coming into her own already.

Here are some of the things she's up to these days...

When you put a blanket over her head and ask "Where's Piper?"
she takes it off herself and grins.

After eating Piper loves to wash her own face with a warm washcloth.
I started at an early age making a game out of cleaning her face, so now that's what she does.

Although she's not "talking" much she is singing and cooing.

Piper loves to be lifted up in the air and gently swung around.

She's able to pick up even small items and transfer from one hand to the other (developmentally this is a wonderful advancement)

She's ticklish.

She's using facial expressions and hesitation to make jokes and waits for a reaction and then laughs and laughs...
Don't know where she could have gotten that!

The following is a series of her exploring the living room...

She quietly rolls and crawls around just checking things out. Her crawling is still very slow and not at all coordinated, but she's up on all 4s and trying to figure it out every chance she gets.
