Daddy Wants and Moxie Boogies

Saturday Piper and I took off to Alamosa together.

We had lunch, shopped and had a lovely time.

I spoiled her a little and she discovered Monster High.

It was great having focused time to answer her questions and hear her stories. She is so sweet and funny.

But still... On the way home tears turned on as she missed he Dad.
I'm no replacement, I get it.

While Piper misses her Dad, Moxie misses breathing through her nose.

Happy as can be, but she can't sleep. Because every time she's horizontal her boogies go on over drive.

Oh yes...

The boogie fairy has returned.
Piper's aren't so bad this time, but Moxie is slammed.
Add in that third tooth is finally on the move again and I'm amazed she's in such a good mood.
But ya- that sleep. Sleep isn't as good as usual. Poor thing can't breath. Up at night and 30 min naps.
So when Piper started waking me again too I got desperate.

On our date she got to pick out some tattoos. Every night she goes potty by herself and let's me sleep she gets a tattoo.
She has now become a kid of legend at school. And has even inspired others to try the no undie challenge.

So at night I ask, tell me again what you need to do to get another tattoo? She's taken to saying - eat breakfast, play with my sister. I said Piper, come on- you know- don't you?
I'm just teasing you Mom! Of course I know what I need to do!
A 3.5 year old teasing me like her Dad does.
great.
She even has the deadpan down so I can't tell.

Halloween is upon us, so I finally got to carving the pumpkins Piper designed.
Whoa nelly - she didn't go easy on me - that's for sure!

Please Don't Leave

It's been an interesting week this week.
While nothing monumental happened - there are some developmental stretches in our midst.

Moxie is mellow as ever...

Until she practices her crawling.
Whoa-nelly she gets mad.
But unlike Piper if you praise her and cheer her on she'll lift her head up and beam at you.
She's moving ... Backwards.
It's more a two footed plank yoga pose using both feet to scoot backwards.
No wonder she's mad.
That's a lot of work!

Piper had her first play date where the friend was dropped off.
They had a ball!

But something is going on with her.
All week school drop offs were difficult. And when we tried to go to our dance/jujitsu night on Thur? Well... I made it out the door.
Josh did not.
Separation anxiety, which has caused some return of nighttime antics as well.
Tonight Josh tried to leave again and no go.
So we discussed how important it is that we all have our time. How she loves playing with Saoirse is the same as dance and jujitsu for Mom and Dad.
We're working on it.
She and I have a Mom/Piper date scheduled tomorrow.
I don't know if it's backlash from having to share us with her sister or some random 3 year old " thing"

But despite keeping close tabs on us - she's sweet as ever.

This afternoon when we found a run over snake in our driveway she said quick, Momma! Get some water please! We need to make him alive again!

Ummm....ya...
First lessons in death.

Cousins and Costumes

So much happening around here.
Kitchen cabinets are getting their fronts and I now have drawers (yahooo!!!). On the kid front Moxie is getting around a bit more, vocalizing ( mama mama dada dada) and Piper is into spinning skirts and working on her Halloween costume.

Piper is also VERY good at including her sister when and how she can.

Please note they are both wearing capes
I had one too by the way ;)

Dancing

The cold went through really fast this time. Josh is still coughing but Moxie barely got it and Piper and I are as good as new.

Corpse Bride has blue flowers, so we painted the white ones we had. I'm trying to be more resourceful and creative with things we have around the house.

Whoa. So cool.
Dad came from work with a mole!
He brought said mole back to the job site. We have enough holes around here I know we're set. But an up close look was very exciting.
Josh is very good about brining home cool things he finds.

And what's this? A just because we love you present from Grandma Sally and Grandpa Mark?

Sweet!

And spinning for your sister- that's so sweet too.

As is mum mums. Piper could care less about these rice baby snacks. Moxie?
She's all about them.

Cousins!!!
It's a rare treat to have cousins visit.
Andy, Snow and Garath came from OH

And while Gareth and Piper were shy at first, they came around.

Piper is running barefoot on the packed driveway while Gareth times his rides.

She wares us all out Gareth, don't feel bad.

She wore herself out too.
Much melting commenced after that little run/bike fest.

Off to play at the creek, which was running again- and check out the owl.

So wonderful to see them and catch up!

Stories and Snot

Apparently she was talking so fast her teacher couldn't catch all of it. And that's canning corn by the way. Apparently all that canning left an impression.

Fall is under way, so the woollies are coming out.

And we're trying out Halloween options.

Bundling on the deck when we can...

And we're ending the week on a snot note. Josh got it first and now Piper and I have it and Moxie is fighting the good fight. I'm off to bed, anticipating a long tear and snot filled night seeing as that's how it began. Drownding in snot can be scary when you're 3 after all.
